Greetings and welcome back to my travels behind the scenes of the Lancaster Roots and Blues festival! So as the weeks seem to be flying by and the weather continues to chill, we continue to confirm bands for the 2016 festival. If you followed my blog last year, we chatted about changes.
As an event planner, changes, complications and what we call "fires" are bound to happen. If you think you can foresee and prevent all problems pre-event, than I'm sorry... but your eyes are closed. People and Nature are unpredictable. You have to be on your feet at every moment, your person has to be available at all times and there is no situation that will go unseen or attended to. You may not be able to put OUT every "fire" but.... I thoroughly believe that effort will never go unseen or appreciated.
Brings me to another thought actually. When I was younger I was a billiards player. I started off hitting the pool hall after work to try and stay out of trouble. Pretty much all I knew was to hit the white ball into either a stripe or a solid and usually I was hitting them way to hard, off the table and scuffing the felt. I was terrible to say the least. Then a few of the locals started giving me advice. They taught me how to hold the cue, how to eye the shot and how to lineup for the progression of the match. From 8 ball, I moved to 9 ball and happened to start spending time with a guy who was very well know in the Billiards realm on the East Coast. Now that I'm rambling, I'll get to the point. One piece of advice that he gave me that I will never forget was that there are NO Impossible Shots on any table. And believe it or not, it is absolutely true. The same with events, there will always be a way, even if you have to get creative about it.
So I am sad to say that unfortunately Jim Campilongo will not be performing at the festival in 2016 or sharing with us at the Master Class session. You know how these things go. Along the way we will have cancellations but that just means a new opportunity for another amazing talent to fill the spot.
I am happy to announce that the Stray Birds are absolutely still performing Friday at Steinman Hall at the Ware Center, Saturday at the Convention Center and also a Songwriting Master Class on Saturday Afternoon. And as always, I'll keep you informed as we continue to confirm Master Class hosts.
So thanks for stopping by today and here is hoping that your week is off to an amazing start!
Cheers and Drum Rolls,
Blondesheep
