Back to the point Blondesheep! I mentioned in an earlier blog that there came to a point in my day when the Man, the Lancaster Booking Legend, Rich Ruoff would inform me of a new addition to the spectacular schedule already planned. Another band I thought?! Music overload! So he went on to explain to me that this was no ordinary band. This was Iron Butterfly. "Who?" I asked? He looked at me with the look I know all too well now. A look of Excitement, Slight Disappointment and Get Ready to Learn. I love those breaks in the day when I get to live vicariously through my coworkers as they talk about the concerts they have lived to tell stories of, and the history of the bands that have led to their stories. And so that day I learned about Iron Butterfly and their great single IN A-GADDA-DA-VIDA.
So in my own little research venture, I came across the following familiar (coming from CA) venues the band had played:
The Famous Whiskey a Go Go in West Hollywood
The Spectrum in LA on NYE 1966
Glaxy Club of LA
The Avalon in San Fransisco with the Velvet Underground & Chrom
Santa Monica Civic Center
Twice of American Bandstand
My all Beloved Hollywood Bowl (Seriously if you travel to CA, grab a box seat, sit back and relax, it's divine!)
And the Filmore West in San Francisco with the One, the Only.... Led Zepplin!
Bam! Okay, I get it and I will be trying to escape the 4 walls of the production office to catch at least 5 minutes of Iron Butterfly during the festival, I admit it! And since the band has gone through so many member changes have happened and so on... here's some latest info I found on the Wiki:
Mike Pinera revealed in December of 2014 that he and Ron Bushy had reformed Iron Butterfly along with the son of Don Ingle (Don Ingle Jr.), along with a talented bassist to currently be working on a new album. Their first in 40 years.
Well Gosh Darn. I am pretty stoked that Iron Butterfly will be bringing the rock early Saturday at the convention center, and I hope to see you there are too!
Let's not Forget the Meet & Greet!
I've had a blast bringing you this blog and hopefully we have you all hyped up and ready to enjoy Saturday the 7th! Remember to look at the overall schedule because your tickets as a full day pass allows entrance into each 8 venues & 10 stages (21+) (21 under admitted at the Ware Center and the Trust Performing Arts). Plan when you can grab lunch/dinner as there are so many amazing sponsors I will be blogging about this week. We also have the Food Truck Court providing you with many options as I have blogged about before and Gosh Darn... Get Ready for an Amazing Weekend.
Thank you again for your Support and I can's wait to see you all!
Cheers, Counting down the days & No Sleep till LRB,
